Anyone notice the new name change?  I think it better reflects that I am also carrying art and craft supplies.  We will be replacing signage on the store soon.

Our new web site is:  www.creationstation.effingham@yahoo.com.  I will still be checking e-mails at the old site for appx. a month, but do want to switch over to the new site.

We also have a new web site:  www.creationstationsupplies.com.  I will be closing out the old web site soon, and switching to the new one.  Let me know what you think.

The winner of the paper pack for re-naming the store goes to........................................me.  Ha.  I LOVED all the suggestions, but needed something that would reflect BOTH crafts and scrapbooking, so I wanted the word "Creation" in the name.  Thanks to everyone for participating!

Sculpey Clay Bracelet Class

Ladies,

We already have people starting to sign up for this class.  Woot!  Thought I'd share a pic since I just finished the bracelet.  NOTE:  You will only be making six charms, but you will have enough beads to space between them to complete the bracelet.

Class is on Tues., May 6, from 6 - 8 p.m.  Cost is $17.  You must drop by the store and pre-pay to reserve your spot.  You will also need to bring a small, square Tupperware container with a lid to get your creations safely home to bake.  You WILL leave with all of the beads, the bracelet, and the charms you have completed plus enough clay to make the rest if we don't get them all done in class.  I will also provide baking instructions so you can bake the charms and complete your bracelet at home.  This is the "Sweet Treat" bracelet, I will be posting a pic of the Easter bracelet in the future.  You can replicate any of our charms, or create your own theme, i.e.: reptiles, dogs, cats, shoes, etc.  The sky is the limit!

We hope to see you in class!

Sculpey Fun = Bracelet Class

Ladies and Children,

We are having so stinkin' much fun with the Sculpey Clay!  Look at the charms we've created!  We're going to be doing a bracelet class on Tuesday, May 6 (Just before Mother's Day!  I sense a gift coming on!) from 6 - 8 p.m.

You will be creating your charms from every available color of Sculpey Clay, or you can mix colors to create that special hue.  We will make as many charms as we can during the class, and you will take home the bracelet, loops, beads, and enough extra clay to complete SIX charms each to finish at home.  EASY!

All you need to bring is a small, hard container (plastic is fine) with a lid to get your creations home to bake them.  (10 min. @ 275 degrees).

FUN!

Children are also welcome for this class.  I would just ask that they be old enough to craft small items without getting frustrated.

What an AWESOME, handmade gift for a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, neighbor, friend, etc.

Also, we did a Sweet Treat theme and an Easter theme, but the sky is the limit!  You can replicate what we created, or design your own charms.

As soon as I finish the bracelets, I'll send a pic of them fully assembled.

Drop by the store and pre-pay to reserve your spot.  Class is $17.

Knit/Crochet

Ladies,

I am LOVING the knitting classes!  Have already made two of the Starbella scarves (both are for customers and now my daughter wants one!), and have two more I want to do just to see how they knit up.  Going to use the Starbella plaid yarn, and the Starbella Flirt Rattlesnake yarn.  Yippee!
Pat B., this scarf is yours!  Come pick it up any time!

Jennifer W., this one is yours!  Come pick it up any time.

I wanted to let everyone know that I have to place another Cascade yarn order by the first of May (or sooner!) to complete my opening order minimum from them.  I would encourage all who are interested to check out their website at: www.Cascadeyarn.com and let me know if you would like me to get something for you.  I have to meet the minimum order anyway, so I may as well get what you would like!  Also, there are lots of free patterns on the website as well.

Please let me know what I can order for you!

Thanx,
Bev
(Special thanks to Morgan for rocking the scarves!)

This looks like FUN!

Chalkboard paint (we carry!), Vinyl (we carry!) and Voila!

Tutorial from Susan at SRM!

This past fall I helped out a friend at an arts and craft fair. I was so inspired by these retro and vintage trays that she had turned into adorable pieces of art. This idea has been on my mind since then and I have been wanting to take this idea and add my own spin to it.  I recently came across some small silver trays at my local Dollar Tree (see photo 1) and I immediately thought of those re-purposed trays from the fair. These seemed like the perfect ones to "test drive", so I bought one of each and took them home to play.

Now that I had my trays, I wanted to transform them. She had spray painted hers, but as most of you know, this winter has not been warm, so spray painting was out of the question. I had to come up with a different option.

Tutorial/Dollar Tree Trays Wall Decor
Photo 2:  The first thing you must do before painting metal is treat the surface to help make the paint stick. To do this, I lightly sanded the surfaces of each tray with a fine grit foam sanding block from my local hardware store. After you are finished sanding, brush or wipe off the dust before you proceed with the next step.

Photo 3:  After you have sanded the surface you need to further prime the surface to help the paint stick. I used a paint brush and applied a layer of white acrylic gesso and let it dry.

Photo 4:  Next, I painted the entire tray with black chalkboard paint following the instructions on the bottle of paint. I applied 2 coats going in opposite directions and allowing the paint to dry between coats. Obviously, if I had been able to use spray paint I wouldn't have had to worry about brush strokes. I didn't have the choice to use spray paint because the temperatures were way below freezing here and spray paint must be used outside with good ventilation and it will freeze coming out of the can if you use it in cold temperatures. With all this being said, I ended up really liking how the paint job turned out and I think the brush strokes add a little character to the painted tray.

Photo 5:  Once the paint was completely dry, I continued following the instructions for the chalkboard paint and applied chalk over the entire painted surface.

Photo 6:  The final step was to wipe off the excess chalk with a rag. Repeat the above steps on all of your trays.

Photo 7:  Now it's time to cut your vinyl.  Juliana has provided FREE digital files for this project!  Here's the link:
https://app.box.com/s/rji2xjq5qk0tr7smwzlp
Please note that these files are for personal use only.  They cannot be sold.

Juliana designed a set of digital cut files for use with her Silhouette Cameo with a theme around loving her home.  She created this FREE digital cut file that you can download and use to create your own set of trays or to use for other craft projects. You can cut these images from vinyl, stencil material, cardstock or even patterned paper and they can be used for a full range of projects, including cards, home decor and scrapbook pages. This digital file is available in both SVG, PNG and Studio formats and you may download this digital cut file for FREE for your own personal use. Please refer to her terms of use for more information.

Photo 8:  Closeup of home die cut
Photo 9:  Closeup of heart die cut
Photo 10:  Closeup of words die cut
Photo 11:  Finished project

That's it for now.  Don't forget to check out all the colors and styles of vinyl we carry.  And FYI…we are going to bring out some heat transfer vinyl soon in 33 standard colors and 16 glitter colors.  FUN!

Frequently asked questions:
What size is SRM Vinyl?  Answer:  It comes in sheets of 12" x 24".  Many stores cut it in half and sell 12 x 12 sheets.
How do you display SRM Vinyl:  Answer:  You can use paper racks for 12 x 12 cut sheets or you can use a double paper rack for 12 x 24 sheets.  You just remove the center piece to create a 12 x 24 space.  You can also use a wine rack style display.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.
