Cricut Question

Does anyone know if it is possible to cut letters vertically out of a 12 X 12 piece of paper with the Cricut? We are wanting the letters to run down both sides of the paper, but are wanting to use the negative space only...in other words, we want to cut the letters out of the paper, but then use the paper with the letter holes cut out of it.
